Renda-se (Surrender oneself / Lace yourself)
Awards Selected for the Brazilian Design Biennial (2014) and the Graphic Design Biennial (2015).
The Concept "Renda-se" is a multidisciplinary dialogue between typography, visual poetry, and traditional craftsmanship. The project bridges contemporary design and cultural heritage, involving research, illustration, and textile art.
Origin and Evolution The project initially started as a brief for a t-shirt collection celebrating the culture of Florianópolis ("Magic Island"). What began as a print spelling "Amorzinho" (Little Love) in lace letters evolved into a deep typographic study. I developed a complete alphabet based on the complex patterns of Bobbin Lace (Renda de Bilro).
Materialization The result came to life through two distinct mediums
Print Silkscreen posters featuring the font.
Textile Art The letters were physically crafted by the artisans of Casarão das Rendeiras, preserving local know-how.
